About the Author
Storm Thorgerson was a key member of the British graphic art group known as Hipgnosis. He designed many of the most famous album covers of all time, including Pink Floyd’s instantly-recognizable Dark Side Of The Moon. He also directed rock videos, long forms, commericals and TV documentaries.

Great volume highlights Storm Thorgerson's iconic images for The Floyd

I preordered this volume from Amazon on Feb. 7th this year. The publishing date of April 3rd came and went, and there was no action on my order. Over time it became apparent that Amazon didn't have any copies. So I eventually ordered a copy from a 3rd party seller.

Now that I finally have the volume in hand, I'm very pleased to have it in my library. It is a great record of the late Storm Thorgerson's iconic work for Pink Floyd. The volume is of very good quality and the art work reproduction is outstanding.

There is a lot more copy than I expected, as Storm comments on the images we have all come to know and love--the prism, the handshake, the flying pig, the river of beds--telling us the stories behind the images. I have a pretty good collection of Floyd material, and so a good deal of the background info is not new to me, but it's nevertheless welcome to have it all included in one handsome volume.

Surprisingly, for a 5th edition, I have so far found two rather strange errors. When addressing "Meddle", Storm refers to the track "Breathless," which I have to believe should be "Fearless", and just a couple pages later refers to a Robert Plant album of "A Question of Balance", which doesn't seem to exist (although there is a Moody Blues album by that name).

Fans of Pink Floyd and rock-and-roll images generally will definitely like this 5th edition. It's gorgeous.

Showing off Storm's work in style

Wow... what an awesome trip through the history of Pink Floyd, by the man who created or helped create so many of the band's iconic album covers and artwork. Not much material from The Wall (and none from The Final Cut), but I knew that going in, as Storm was not involved with those albums. Overall, it's a great tribute not only to an incredible band, but of Storm and his team who worked amazing magic and did much of it the hard way. Highly recommended for anyone who is a fan of Floyd or just great album artwork.

Can't stand eBook format!

The eBook's format I can't stand! It's fixed format but done line a lt of comic books where you touch a section of a page of caption and it focuses on just that piece making it not just difficult to look at the whole page but worse yet, it's hard to turn the page because those snippets keep going to the focus. Definitely not spending $30 for that. I'll have to get the printed version.

Another great Art book by Delphi.

Great to have all of his works available in one e-book. The reproductions are excellent and are zoom-able as are the detail views. I gave it 4 stars only because of navigation not being as I would like, but otherwise it is a great book to have in your Art book collection. Raphael brought Renaissance art to new heights, a true Master. I also like the included photos of his birthplace and his tomb in the Pantheon.

About the Author

Marc Olden (1933–2003) was the author of forty mystery and suspense novels. Born in Baltimore, he began writing while working in New York as a Broadway publicist. His first book, Angela Davis (1973), was a non-fiction study of the controversial Black Panther. In 1973 he also published Narc, under the name Robert Hawke, beginning a hard-boiled nine-book series about a federal narcotics agent. 

A year later, Black Samurai introduced Robert Sand, a martial arts expert who becomes the first non-Japanese student of a samurai master. Based on Olden’s own interest in martial arts, which led him to the advanced ranks of karate and aikido, the novel spawned a successful eight-book series. Olden continued writing for the next three decades, often drawing on his fascination with Japanese culture and history.

Finally on kindle!

I loved this book when I read it many years ago and I still love it now! This book has martial arts, cops, military special forces, good vs evil and takes you from the gritty streets of NYC to seedy Atlantic City, and even cameo scenes in Japan. The story is engrossing, well written and the characters are realistic. The Protagnist is Manny Decker who makes an excellent hero. He's the type of hero we grew up to in the 80's. Strong, silent, karateka ass kicker. He's a loner and doesn't have many friends. What he does have is a mission and he intends to fulfill it! Two thumbs up, must read! I own this in paperback and will probably buy the kindle version as well just cause I don't know where I've packed up the paper back after the move!

I highly recommend buying this book. Other series' by Olden, like the Black Samurai, I would pass on. (Needed two more words to post this review.)

I have this book in paperback form. I haven't read it for awhile, and when I saw it was available in Kindle form, I just
had to purchase it. It's like visiting a long time friend only better because of the ease of the Kindle. I've always enjoyed
Marc Olden's books, and Giri rates high among them. I just wish the rest of his books were available in Kindle form. I highly
recommend this book, and also highly recommend the rest of his work.

Great for young actress!

I was introduced to this play of monologues 11 years ago when I was in high school. There are many quirky, bizzare, frightening and ultimately moving characters that Ms. Martin introduces us to. Now, as a drama teacher I regularly recommend this to my students.

All time favorite

This play has my all time favorite monologue- French Fries. It is about a homeless woman who wants to live in McDonald's. It manages to capture humor but with a very serious undertone of her fears and pain in life. There are several other good monologues in this play including Clear Glass Marbles, Lamps, and Rodeo. Many of them, however, for my personal taste have bad language and offensive content. In my mind, I separate out French Fries at a 5 star, the other 3 I mentioned and 4 1/2 stars and the others I will never use and would not recommend at all.

Wonderful and strange.

Jane Martin's Talking With gives you highs, lows and makes you wonder what kind of weird people would want to be in such a show! From a woman in labor with a "dragon" to a snake handling religious fanatic. An actress threatening to off her kitty with a hammer to a woman covered in tattoos. You'll either find someone to relate to or wonder what this world is coming to. Whichever it is, it defenintly isn't boring. What do I think of the show? It's strange and wonderful!

Fantastic Ending

Guardian: Saviors of Kamigawa (Kamigawa Cycle: Book III)

This is the final book in the Kamigawa series. The first two books have set the stage for the ultimate showdown for the lives of everyone in Kamigawa. The great defender of the spirit realm wants what was taken from him 20 years ago by Daimyo Konda. The only problem is that Toshi has hidden the Taken One from both sides. However, Toshi has problems all his own, Hidetsugu has really begun to pour on the reckoning. However, the bad blood between the two has finally begun to spill over in what will be the final reckoning of the Hyozan Brotherhood. As much as I'd like to go on, anything else that I saw will ruin the ending for the book, just take my word for it, this is a great finale, though I do feel bad about what Toshi has to go through.

Overall, This is a 10/10 for sure. Again, there are some editing problems, but the story itself is wicked awesome. Another great MTG cycle.

The Guardian had a nice fitting end but at the same time left me with several questions in my head, which I suppose may be a good thing for the author. The whole cycle would make such a great movie if they made it precisely how the author made the readers envisioned it, giving it life in the movies would make the books all the more exciting and alive. Kudos Mr. Scott M.=)

Kamigawa Fan Boy

It you like the Kamigawa Block then you will enjoy these books. If you did not care for the Kamigawa Block then I dunno. The story's plot was well put together and the main character Toshio actually was developed throughout the cycle. Kamigawa is my favorite MTG Block so I may be biased, but this book cycle is certainly worth reading if you enjoy MTG's flavor.
